Dr Marietjie Weakley qualified in Dentistry at the University of Pretoria in 1989 and has been in private practice ever since. She acquired a post graduate diploma in Dental Implantology at the UWC in 2014.
Her vision is to make a difference in the lives of her patients, colleagues and Dentistry in South Africa, Africa and the World. Paediatric Dentistry is her field of Specialty and her passion! She is currently a member of the IAPD (International Association of Paediatric Dentistry) Members Committee and is actively involved in the process of promoting Oral Health to African governments. This supports her dream to make the African continent heard as part of “The Global Voice for Children’s Oral Health”.
She facilitated the winning Bid for South Africa, to host the IAPD International Congress in Cape Town for 2023.
This lead up to organising the first African Tri-Regional Meeting in March 2018 in Johannesburg, the 2nd in January 2019 in Kenya, and the 3rd in Nigeria 2020.
Previous positions being President of the Paedodontic Society of South Africa, President of the Gauteng South Branch and National Council Member of the South African Dental Association (SADA).
She initiated the Outreach Project of the Paedodontic Society of South Africa in 2009 for underprivileged children from Zandspruit and the project is still going strong!
She is also involved in various other NPO’s like Rhiza Trust- and Tshemba Foundations,
Dentistry is not a job to her – it is her passion.
